Wednesday & a Sweet Boy

Years ago I was visiting Dublin, Ohio, a charming village outside of Columbus. Browsing the shops that stood along side the tree-lined street was a treat.  I found this little boy holding a rabbit and knew he had to come home with me.  He sat in my garden through the summer and inside my shop in the winter.  He's worn caplets of herbs and flowers on his head, served as a doorstop, a centerpiece surrounded by flowers, and a book end. I've had my share of bunnies, angels, and fairies residing in my gardens, Most have come and gone, but the sweetness of this boy I cannot give up. So he goes where I go from place to place, Ohio to Cape Cod and back again.  I think I'll keep him around a little longer. He makes a fine model for photography.

  1. Ohio to Cape Cod and back again? Are you still telling stories on Fridays? About Cape Cod please?

  2. Hi Diana...my Friday story didn't fare well. I decided it was an idea not quite ready for prime time. I see what I can come up with tonight and tomorrow morning. Cape Cod is a favorite topic with me. Thanks for stopping by!

  3. I like this fine little boy. From Ohio to Cape Cod is quite a trip! I have a little "flower" girl. She has been moved from garden to garden, but I think I have finally found a perfect spot where I can see her everyday from the kitchen window. She has a perfect covering of moss and I dearly love her.

  4. Hello Jeri...thanks for stopping by the Cottage. A moss covered ornament becomes even more special. Once I tried to 'age' pots using all sorts of mixtures, I had one success, but the rest just continued being clay pots.

  5. I have a lovely little stone angel just like your little fellow.
He is now living in my son's garden since we currently don't have one!
I'm very attached to him and was sad when someone decided to wash all his nice verdigris off!

  6. It's interesting to me how we become attached to these stone children. I'm sure there's a Freudian reason for it, but I don't care, my boy with bunny will remain with me.

    Thanks for stopping by, Elizabeth.

  7. What a very charming boy! It makes a good model, too.

Do you read the blog Willow Manor? Willow/Tess lives in or very near Dublin, Ohio and she often writes about treasures found in antique and jumble stores.
