Books, Buddies, & Busy

Oh how exciting to find a box on the doorstep.  I discovered four books inside and a lovely purple tulip note card all from Christina at soul aperture.  I became enchanted with Christina's blog the first time I read her inspiring words and viewed her elegant photography of simple things.  How lucky I was to have my name drawn for a gift of books. When I’ve finished all four books, I’m planning to carry on Christina’s book giveaway and pass them along.  Thank you Christina!  I can’t wait to get started on…

Astrid & Veronika by Linda Olsson

The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery

A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick

The Brooklyn Follies by Paul Auster

Today is Buddy Day at my grandson’s school.  I’m going to meet him for lunch, devour a hot dog and then off we’ll go to the book fair.  He is my buddy in every way.  We share a love of cookie dough and fresh from the oven cookies. We both love words.  Who knew a 7 year old would find words so fascinating that he'd begin writing his own stories.  With heads together we giggle and conspire.

Yep!  He sure is my buddy!

As the holidays approach I’m finding myself incredibly busy.  It’s that time of year when I want to get organized and clean from floor to rafters until the whole house shines like “the top of the Chrysler building.”

The orders for fresh, mixed-green wreaths have started coming in.  I’ll be spending a lot of time in the garage turned workshop for the next few weeks.

I’m finding beauty in the day with books, buddies and that I am once again able to be busy, busy!

  6. Dear Teresa, What a lovely, atmospheric posting of books, book fairs, food, early preparations for Christmas and, above all else, of friendship. How lucky you are to have such a very spirited and interesting 'buddy' with whom to share your moments of free time.

Good luck with the house clean! It does sound a little daunting!

  7. Edith...Thank you for visiting. The books at this particular book fair were not my favorite genre, but who can resist a title like The Diary of a Wimpy Kid? Certainly not my little buddy.

I live in a small home these days, not nearly as daunting as the Victorian farmhouse I lived in for 20 years.

    Have a grand day, Edith!

  11. Constance...Thank you for your kind words. I think the little man is the best thing since sliced bread, but then I'm just a wee bit prejudiced. Christina and so many other bloggers, including you, inspire me, make me smile, and cause me to think and ponder the infinitie possibilites that are out there. It's what blogging is all about. Yes?
    Have a wonderful day!
